CommunityAn online community for people who want to work in Japan
Just ask the peoplewho have walked this road.
When searching online does not answer it, the fastest route is to ask someone who has actually been hired in Japan. The H-bridge community brings together people who have been through job hunting here, and people working towards the same thing right now.
- Free to join
- You never have to post
- Open to people living outside Japan
What the community is for
Members come from different countries, universities, majors, Japanese levels and target roles. What matters most to us is that it stays a place where you can ask.
Ask people who did it
Ask people who have actually job-hunted in Japan, directly. The things you cannot find by searching are exactly the things to ask someone who has been there.
- When they started job hunting
- How they looked for companies
- What they were asked in interviews
- What was difficult about the residence status process
- What it felt like after joining
Get the information you need
We post what matters as the job-hunting season moves, so that you are not left researching everything on your own.
- The job-hunting calendar in Japan
- When residence status procedures happen
- The basics of documents and interviews
- Online consultation and meetup announcements
- News about companies open to hiring international staff
Meet others doing the same
There are people at the same stage, worrying about the same things. We want this to make going through it alone a little lighter.
- Meet people aiming at the same industry or role
- Share where you are in the process
- Talk it over when it is not going well
- Get to know people across countries and universities
You do not
have to post.
There is no rule that says you must say something once you join. Reading other people’s questions and answers is completely fine. In practice, most people only read at first.
You can post in English or in Japanese. If you are not confident in Japanese yet, that is no reason to hold back.
People living outside Japan can join too. You can learn how job hunting here works before you arrive.
H-bridge runs the community. We act on abuse, solicitation, posting of personal information, and anything else that would stop other members feeling safe. Being a place where you can ask comes first.
A place where most people just read is fine by us.
